“Battling” is an integral part of Hip Hop. It came into being to eliminate violence and increase competitiveness through skill development. Battling can be done in a crew or individually and it’s the applause and credit given by the audience, viewer or listener that determines the winner who is credited with respect as the battle winner. Any of the elements can be battled based on skill, technique, style, flow, balance, rhythm and timing.
